Countdown timer

Add a countdown that restarts for each visitor, or one that ends for everyone at a fixed date and time.

Adds urgency to your offer. Restart it for each visitor, or count down to your sale's real end date.

Steps

  1. In Design, add the Countdown timer block from the persuasion group, or pick a template that has one.
  2. Click the countdown on the popup.
  3. Set Countdown mode:
  • Evergreen: set Minutes per visitor. Each visitor gets the full time from the moment they first see it. The time left is remembered in their browser, so a reload does not restart it.
  • Fixed date: set Ends at. It ends for everyone at the same moment.

Evergreen restarts for each visitor. Fixed date ends for everyone at once.

Be honest with it

Use the fixed date for a sale that really ends then. If the offer still works after the timer reaches zero, visitors learn not to believe the next one.

Pair it with the schedule

A fixed-date countdown does not stop the campaign. To stop showing the campaign when the sale ends, set an end date in Where & when under Dates & times. See Schedule: dates, days and hours.

If it does not work

  • The countdown shows zeros: the fixed date has passed. Set a new one.
  • Every reload shows the same remaining time: that is how the per-visitor mode works.
