Consent and the privacy line

Add a consent tick box to a form, show a privacy line that links to your policy, and require consent on every form with GDPR mode.

There are two different things: a consent box the visitor ticks, and a privacy line they only read.

A consent box on one form

  1. Click the form on the popup.
  2. Under Form fields, click the chip Consent.
  3. Change the sentence beside the box. The starter text is "Send me offers and news by email".
  4. Switch on Required if a sign-up without agreement should not be accepted.

What is recorded: whether consent was given, when, and the sentence the visitor agreed to. You see it on the lead's page, and it is sent to your tools.

A consent box on every form

Open Settings > Privacy and data and switch on GDPR mode. Adds a required consent box to any form that asks for an email and does not already have one.

The sentence of that box comes from Consent box wording. Leave empty to use our wording in the visitor's language.

The privacy line

  1. Click the form and find Privacy line.
  2. Switch on Show a privacy line under the fields.
  3. Change Text of the line if you wish. The starter text is "We respect your privacy. Read our privacy policy."
  4. Type the full address of your policy in Address of your privacy page. The whole line becomes a link that opens in a new tab. Leave empty for a line without a link.

Double opt-in

Asking a new contact to confirm by e-mail is done by your e-mail tool, not by the popup. Where a connected tool offers it, the choice is in that tool's settings for the campaign. The form has no such switch.

Leads without consent

  • A lead who did not tick the box is still saved, marked as having no consent.
  • In the leads list you can filter by consent.
  • What a tool does with a lead without consent depends on the tool. See the tool's own article in the Platforms and integrations section.

If it does not work

  • Write the full address, starting with https://. Until then the line shows without a link.
  • Two consent boxes show: the form has its own and GDPR mode is on. GDPR mode adds a box only to a form that has none, so check that the first one is of the type Consent.
  • The consent sentence is in the wrong language: fill in Consent box wording, or leave it empty to use the wording in the visitor's language.
