Why isn't my popup showing?
The full checklist: the in-app checks, the test panel on your own site, and every cause with its cure, from a draft status to a frequency limit.
A popup that does not show almost always has one of a short list of causes. Two tools tell you which one. Use them before guessing.
Tool 1: the checks in the app
- Open the campaign's page and click Why isn't it showing?. The same button is in the editor's Publish step.
- Read the list. Each line is marked OK, Worth checking or Blocking.
- Fix the blocking lines first. Each has a button that opens the setting that solves it.
- Click Check again.
If the summary says Nothing on our side is stopping it, the cause is on the page or in your own browser: use tool 2.
Tool 2: the test panel on your site
- In the same window, click Open my site in inspector mode. Or add ?tafsee-debug=1 to the end of any page address of your site.
- A small panel named "Tafsee inspector" opens on your site. Only you see it.
- For each campaign it says one of: "Showing", "Waiting", "Hidden for you" or "Not live", with the exact reason, for example "Waiting for 40% scroll (now 12%)" or "You closed it recently."
- Use "Show now" to open a campaign at once, "Reset me as a new visitor" to forget what this browser remembers, and "Simulate exit intent".
To close the panel for good, open a page with ?tafsee-debug=0.
The causes, and the cure for each
The campaign is not live
- The campaign is still a draft: publish it. See Publishing, pausing and scheduling.
- The campaign is paused: start it again.
- Scheduled to start later: wait for the start date, or change it.
- Scheduled, but no start date is set: set a start date or publish it now.
- The campaign is archived or The campaign is in the trash: restore it, then publish.
- Your latest edits are not published: click Publish changes.
The code is not on the page
- We can't see Tafsee on your site yet: paste the install code. See Installing the code.
- No visits reported in the last 24 hours: a theme change or a cache plugin may have removed the code. Check it is still there.
- The code is on the home page only: it must be on every page where a campaign should show.
- The site was removed in the app: move the campaign to another website from its Publish step.
The rules do not match this page or this visitor
- No display rule is switched on: switch a rule on in Where & when.
- Shows only on some pages: open a page that matches. See Page rules with worked examples.
- Shows only on a click or custom event: it opens only from a click or an event from your site's code.
- Hidden on phones: a device rule leaves out the device you are using.
- The page is listed under Never show campaigns on these pages in Settings.
- The trigger has not happened yet: wait the seconds, scroll far enough, or move the pointer out of the top of the window.
You have already seen it
- You closed it or signed up, so the frequency rules hide it from you, as they do for shoppers. Use See it as a new visitor or the panel's reset. See The popup shows too often, or does not show again.
- Another popup showed first: one popup shows at a time, and Settings can require a gap between two popups.
The schedule or a limit stops it
- Shows only at certain times: it is outside its days or hours.
- The schedule has ended: extend or clear the end date.
- It reached its sign-up goal: raise or remove the sign-up goal.
- It reached today’s limit: it shows again the next day (UTC).
There is nothing to draw
- The popup has nothing to show: add content to the first page of the popup.
- Every A/B variant has 0% traffic: give a version a share of the visitors.
- An inline campaign has no place on the page: add its line. See Checking the install.
Something on the site blocks the script
- The panel says the campaigns could not be loaded: a firewall, an ad blocker or a Content-Security-Policy is blocking the Tafsee host. Allow it.
- Your browser sends Do Not Track: with Respect Do Not Track on, you see no campaigns.
- Another dialog is open on the page: see Styles clash, or another dialog is on the page.
For developers
Run TafseePopup.diagnose() in the browser console. The first call loads the test tools and answers an empty list; call it again for the reasons per campaign.
