Scratch cards and games
A scratch card popup with prizes your store really honours
A quieter game than a wheel: one card, one rub of the finger, one code.
A scratch card popup hides a prize under a foil panel. The visitor rubs it away with a finger or the mouse and finds a discount code, free shipping or a gift. Tafsee Popup includes scratch to win templates, lets you set each prize and how often it comes up, and gives every visitor one play. It sits beside four other games (pick a gift, mystery box, slot machine and quiz), and this page helps you choose between them.

What you get
Scratch card templates
Start from 'Scratch for a welcome gift', 'Scratch and save' or seasonal cards for Ramadan, White Friday and UAE National Day.
Your prizes and their chances
Give each prize a name, a weight and a code. The weight decides how often it comes up, so the big discount can stay rare.
One play per visitor
The prize is kept in the visitor's browser and, once they give an email, on Tafsee's side. A reload or a second try shows the same prize.
Email first, or play first
Ask for the email and then let them scratch, or let them scratch and ask for the email to claim the prize. The code appears only after the email arrives.
Show the odds if you like
A switch adds a 'See the odds' link under the game, for stores that want to show the game is fair.
Games on every plan
Scratch card, wheel and slot machine are included on the Free plan, along with every template.
What is a scratch to win popup?
It is the paper scratch card moved to the screen. A panel covers the prize; the visitor rubs it with a finger on a phone or drags the mouse on a computer, and the prize shows through.
The reason it works is the same reason any gamified popup works: the visitor does something, so the reward feels found, not handed out. That makes asking for an email at the same moment feel like a fair trade.
Compared with a wheel, a scratch card is smaller and quieter. It fits a slide-in or a compact popup, suits brands that find a spinning wheel too loud, and feels natural on a phone because scratching is a touch gesture.
Gamification for ecommerce: which game fits which job
Tafsee Popup has six games. They share the same prize settings and the same one-play rule, so the choice is about mood and space, not features.
- Scratch card: the lightest touch. Good for a welcome offer and for seasonal offers where a wheel would feel heavy.
- Pick a gift: the visitor opens one of several gift boxes. It suits gifting seasons such as Ramadan and Eid. The prize is decided by the chances you set, not by which box is opened.
- Mystery box: one box that shakes, then opens. Best for launches and surprise drops, where the point is curiosity.
- Slot machine: three reels and a lever, with up to eight prizes. The most playful of the set, for big sale days such as White Friday.
- Quick quiz: two to four questions, then a result and a code. It is not a game of chance; use it as a product finder or gift guide. The answers are saved on the lead, so you can segment by them.
- Spin to win: the classic prize wheel, with its own page: spin to win popups.
If you cannot decide, start with the scratch card on mobile-heavy stores and the wheel on desktop-heavy ones, then let an A/B test settle it.
Prizes and odds that stay honest
The prize a visitor gets follows the chances you set and is fixed the moment it is decided. Nothing about the scratching changes it. That lets you plan the cost of the campaign before it runs.
- Make every prize real. If the card says free shipping, the code must work at checkout. You create the codes in your store; Tafsee Popup shows them.
- Keep 'better luck next time' rare. A card that mostly loses feels rigged, and shoppers notice.
- Choose how codes are given. One shared code per prize, a unique code for each visitor, or codes you upload from your store and hand out one at a time. The discount code popup page explains each.
- State the terms next to the form: minimum order, expiry, one use per customer.
You can write {prize} in any headline or text on the thank-you page to repeat what the visitor won, and switch confetti on or off. Visitors whose device asks for reduced motion never see the confetti.
Add a scratch card popup in three steps
- Design — choose a scratch card template, set the prizes with their weights and codes, pick the foil colour and the words on it, and decide whether the email comes before or after the scratch.
- Show when — target new visitors, trigger after a short delay, a scroll or exit intent, and cap the frequency so nobody is asked twice.
- Publish — connect your email tool or sheet, send a test lead, and go live.
The game runs from the same single script as every other Tafsee campaign, pasted into your site or added through Google Tag Manager, and the app has install guides for Salla and Zid. Every lead is saved in Tafsee first, with the prize and the code on the lead.
When a game is the wrong choice
A game is a discount with a costume on. If your margins cannot carry a discount, a game will not change that, and a clear offer of early access or a useful guide will serve you better.
Games also fit poorly on B2B and high-ticket service sites, where a plain lead generation form reads as more serious. And if a straight welcome code already converts well, test the scratch card against it before replacing it. Sometimes the plain version wins.
Frequently asked questions
It is a popup with a prize hidden under a panel. The visitor scratches the panel away with a finger or the mouse and wins a reward such as a discount code or free shipping, usually in exchange for their email address.
You control the chances. Each prize has a weight, and its chance is that weight out of the total. The prize is decided by those chances, and every prize with a weight can really be won.
No. It is one play per visitor. The prize is remembered in the browser and, once an email is given, on Tafsee's side, so signing up again with the same email shows the same prize and the same code.
It depends on your audience, and we will not quote a number we cannot back. The scratch card is smaller and calmer; the wheel is louder and more visible. Run both as an A/B test, available from the Growth plan, and keep the one that is ahead with statistical significance.
Yes. The Free plan includes every template and game, with 1 website, 3 live campaigns and 500 leads stored a month, and a small Tafsee badge. Paid plans start at $9 a month.
Yes. The Ramadan and UAE National Day scratch cards are designed in Arabic, right-to-left, and any scratch card can be switched to Arabic text and direction in the editor.
