Seasonal campaigns
Black Friday popups, sale banners and countdown timers
Four phases, one plan: build the list, open the sale, close it on time, then switch to Cyber Monday.
A Black Friday popup works when it is part of a plan and not a last-minute banner. In 2026 Black Friday falls on 27 November and Cyber Monday on 30 November, so the useful work starts weeks earlier: an early-access list now, a sale banner with a real countdown on the day, and a clean switch to Cyber Monday. Tafsee Popup has ready templates for each step, and you can schedule all of them before the weekend starts.

What you get
Real Black Friday templates
Black Friday takeover, Flash sale countdown, Black Friday gold wheel and Cyber Monday neon wheel, ready to edit.
Early-access list
Collect emails or phone numbers before the sale and send them to your email tool.
Sale banner on every page
A slim announcement bar at the top or bottom that carries the offer without covering the page.
Countdown to a fixed end
The countdown block ends for everyone at the date and time you set.
Scheduled in advance
Date-range rules start and stop each phase in the timezone you choose.
No pageview pricing
Plans count sites, campaigns and leads. A traffic peak does not change your bill.
A Black Friday and Cyber Monday plan in four phases
Shoppers decide where to buy before the day itself. They make lists, compare prices and sign up for early access. A store that only appears on Friday morning is competing for attention at the most crowded moment of the year, so spread the work over four phases.
Phase 1: teaser and early-access list (from now)
- Put an early-access popup on the site: "Join the list and shop Black Friday 12 hours before everyone else." The Black Friday takeover template is built for this, with an email field and a countdown to the opening time.
- Add a quiet announcement bar with the sale date. One line is enough.
- Send signups to your email tool so the launch email is ready to go. Our email popup page covers the form side.
Phase 2: the sale is live
- Swap the teaser bar for the live offer with a countdown timer to the real end.
- Greet new visitors with a welcome code or the Black Friday gold wheel. Use the "Already signed up" rule so subscribers do not see the signup form again.
Phase 3: last hours
- Change the bar copy to "Ends tonight at midnight" and keep the same countdown.
- Add an exit-intent popup on product and cart pages for shoppers who are still comparing.
Phase 4: Cyber Monday
- Give Monday its own offer and its own look. The Cyber Monday neon wheel template is a ready starting point.
- End every sale campaign on schedule. A banner that still says Black Friday on Wednesday tells shoppers your deadlines are not real.
A Black Friday countdown timer that ends when you say
The countdown block has two modes. The fixed date mode ends for every visitor at the same date and time, which is what a Black Friday sale needs. The other mode gives each visitor their own number of minutes from the first time they see it, and it suits a personal welcome offer better than a public sale.
- Before the sale, count down to the opening. During the sale, count down to the end.
- Pair the countdown with a date range rule that stops the campaign at the same moment. A timer left on the site after the deadline shows zeros.
- Pick the timezone on purpose. If you sell in more than one country, state the timezone in the copy ("ends Monday 23:59 GMT").
If the same prices come back the following week, shoppers remember. Count down only to deadlines you intend to keep. For a quick standalone timer, there is also a free countdown timer generator.
Black Friday discount ideas that are not just a bigger percentage
When every store shouts a percentage, a clear and slightly different offer is easier to notice. These Black Friday marketing ideas all fit in a popup or a bar:
- Early access for subscribers. The reward is time, not a deeper discount, so it protects your margin.
- Tiered offer. Spend more, save more, explained in one line.
- Free shipping for the weekend. Often cheaper for you than another 10% off, and easy to say in a free shipping bar.
- Gift with purchase for the first orders or above a set basket value.
- A prize wheel on top of sale prices. Small extras such as an extra 5% or free shipping. See the spin-to-win page for how to set odds you can afford.
- A different Cyber Monday offer. A category-only deal or a bundle gives Friday buyers a reason to come back.
Tafsee Popup shows the discount code; you create the code in your store. You can show one code to everyone, give each visitor a unique code, or upload a list of codes from your store so each one is handed out once. Details are on the discount code popup page.
Selling in the Gulf too? Use White Friday there
Many retailers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE call the same season White Friday, and shoppers there search for it under that name. If you sell in both regions, run two versions of the campaign and use the Country rule to show each one to the right visitors.
The White Friday page covers the Gulf version in detail, including the Arabic templates.
Checks to run before the weekend
Most Black Friday problems are small and avoidable: a code that was never created, a popup that covers the checkout button on a phone, a schedule set in the wrong timezone. Run through this list a few days before.
- Create and test every code in your store. Place a test order with each one.
- Open each campaign on a phone. Check the close button, the text contrast and that the bar does not hide your menu.
- Send a test lead to your email tool and confirm it arrives in the right list.
- Exclude the checkout. Keep popups off payment pages so nothing interrupts an order.
- Set a frequency cap so returning visitors are not asked to sign up on every visit.
If a campaign does not appear where you expect it, the built-in diagnostics check the install, the rules and the schedule and tell you which one is blocking it. Plan limits never switch a live popup off in the middle of a sale.
Frequently asked questions
Start the early-access popup four to six weeks before the sale, so you have a list to email on the day. Black Friday 2026 is on 27 November and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Switch to the live sale message when your prices actually change.
Black Friday takeover (a fullscreen early-access popup with a countdown), Flash sale countdown, Black Friday gold wheel and Cyber Monday neon wheel. For a bar, start from the White Friday countdown bar and change the text.
Create a floating bar campaign, write one line with the offer, add a countdown and a button, then set a date range. The bar appears on any site that carries the Tafsee script, which you paste once into your theme or add through Google Tag Manager.
Yes, if the offer is different. Duplicate the Black Friday campaign, change the copy and design, and schedule it to start when the Friday campaign ends. If the offer is the same all weekend, one campaign with one honest deadline is clearer.
No. Plans are based on sites, live campaigns and leads per month, not pageviews. The Free plan covers 1 site, 3 live campaigns and 500 leads a month, and paid plans start at $9 a month.
They can be if they cover the page the moment someone arrives from search. Use a bar for the main offer, and trigger popups after some scrolling, time on page or exit intent.
