Sumo alternative

A Sumo alternative, now that Sumo is BDOW!

The list builder once called SumoMe has a new owner, a new name and one paid plan. Here is what its site says today, next to Tafsee Popup.

If you are searching for a Sumo alternative, start with a fact that surprises many old users: on 13 October 2026, sumo.com no longer shows the list-building tool. The address opens a page for an unrelated AI product. The popup and form tool formerly known as Sumo, and before that SumoMe, now lives at bdow.com under the name BDOW!. Its site says Showit acquired Sumo in 2024 and rebuilt it. So the real choice is between BDOW! as it is sold today and another tool. This page sets out BDOW!'s published plan and features, then shows where Tafsee Popup fits and where it does not.

Sumo review in brief: what it does well

A fair Sumo review today has to be a BDOW! review. BDOW! describes itself as the pop-up and form tool built by Showit, and says it kept the same engine with a new design. Form types named on its site are pop-ups, welcome mats, smart bars, scroll boxes, inline forms and click triggers. It also lists social proof pop-ups and evergreen countdown timers that start for each visitor when they land.

It still does more than capture. The pricing page lists welcome emails, campaigns and broadcasts with unlimited native email sends, plus A/B tests, visitor targeting, discount codes, cart abandonment recovery and a report of the revenue it drove. Named integrations include Showit, WordPress, Shopify, Kit, Flodesk, Mailchimp, Klaviyo and AWeber, and the site mentions WooCommerce and webhooks.

Three things to check before you rely on it. The features page says the Shopify app is currently unavailable and that a new one is coming. The WordPress plugin is still listed on WordPress.org, where a notice says it has not been tested with the latest three major WordPress releases. And we found no mention of spin-to-win games or of Arabic and right-to-left support on the pages we read. None of this proves a gap, so ask their support about whichever matters to you.

Sumo pricing compared

Sumo pricing as older articles describe it no longer applies. At the time of review, BDOW!'s pricing page says "One Plan" and lists a single paid plan called Pro, sized by stored contacts:

  • Pro, 1,000 stored contacts: $25 a month billed monthly, or $19 a month billed yearly ($228). 1 site, unlimited native email sends, and social proof pop-ups up to 50,000 page views.
  • 2,500 contacts: $37 monthly, or $29 a month on annual billing.
  • 5,000 contacts: $49 monthly, or $38 on annual billing.
  • 10,000 contacts: $60 monthly, or $48 on annual billing.
  • 25,000 contacts: $84 monthly, or $68 on annual billing.
  • 50,000 contacts or more: the page says to talk to them.

The same page says the trial runs 14 days with a card required, that a second site means a second Pro subscription, and that once storage is full, new leads keep forwarding to your connected integration. It also tells existing customers that their current plan and price stay as they are. One point is unclear: the site menu says "Free forever plan. No credit card.", but the pricing page shows no free plan. Ask them which applies before you sign up.

Tafsee Popup pricing

Tafsee Popup plans are priced by sites, live campaigns and leads stored per month. Visitors and pageviews are not counted, and reaching a limit does not switch your live popups off.

  • Free: $0. 1 site, 3 live campaigns, 500 leads a month, with a small Tafsee badge.
  • Starter: $9/month, or $84 billed yearly. 1 site, 10 live campaigns, 2,000 leads a month, no badge.
  • Growth: $19/month, or $180 billed yearly. 3 sites, 15 live campaigns, 5,000 leads a month, A/B testing.
  • Pro: $49/month, or $468 billed yearly. 10 sites, unlimited live campaigns, 25,000 leads a month, HubSpot and Zoho CRM.
  • Business: $99/month, or $948 billed yearly. Unlimited sites, campaigns and leads, priority support.

Paid plans come with a 14-day trial. Full details are on the Tafsee Popup pricing page. The two price lists measure different things. BDOW! charges for contacts stored and includes email sending. Tafsee Popup charges for sites, live campaigns and leads collected, and sends no email.

The figures above were read on bdow.com on 13 October 2026, because sumo.com no longer lists the product. Prices and limits change, so confirm them on their site before you decide. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

Where Tafsee Popup differs from Sumo today

A free plan stated in numbers

Tafsee Popup's Free plan is $0 and is spelled out: 1 site, 3 live campaigns, 500 leads a month, with a small badge. That is enough for an email popup, an exit offer and a bar running together. Paid plans have a 14-day trial.

More than one site without a second subscription

BDOW!'s pricing page says a second site is a second Pro. In Tafsee Popup, Growth at $19 a month covers 3 sites and Pro at $49 covers 10, which matters to agencies and to merchants who run a store and a separate blog.

Games

Tafsee Popup includes spin to win, scratch card, pick a gift, mystery box, slot machine and a quick quiz on every plan. Each one sits behind an email or phone field and reveals a discount code you created in your store.

Arabic stores

The Tafsee Popup app runs in Arabic and English, layouts mirror for right-to-left, and the template library has Arabic designs and seasonal sets for Ramadan, Eid and White Friday. There are install guides for Salla and Zid as well as Shopify and WordPress.

Popups only

Tafsee Popup does not send email, show social proof notifications or recover carts by email. It collects the lead and delivers it to your own tools. If you want capture and sending in one subscription, that is a point for BDOW!.

When Sumo is the better choice

Stay with Sumo, meaning BDOW!, if you use its email side. Welcome emails, campaigns and broadcasts with unlimited sends are part of the Pro plan, and Tafsee Popup has none of that. A small list of 1,000 contacts with sending included for $19 to $25 a month can cost less than a popup tool plus a separate email tool.

It is also the better choice if your site is on Showit, since BDOW! is built by the same company and can be added inside a Showit account. The same goes if you want social proof notifications, or if you are an existing customer on an older plan: their pricing page says your plan and price stay as they are, so there may be no reason to move. Tafsee Popup also has no plugin, while BDOW! still offers one for WordPress.

How to move from Sumo to Tafsee Popup

There is no automatic importer, so moving from Sumo means rebuilding the campaigns that earn their place. For most stores that is two or three popups, not twenty.

  1. Create a free Tafsee Popup account and add your site.
  2. Paste the Tafsee snippet into your site's header, or add it through Google Tag Manager. There is no plugin or store app to install.
  3. Rebuild your best campaigns from the template library, and set when each one shows.
  4. Connect where leads should go: Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Google Sheets, Slack, Zapier, Make or a webhook, and HubSpot or Zoho CRM on the Pro plan.
  5. Export your existing contacts from Sumo before you cancel, then remove its script, plugin or app so visitors never see two popups at once.

If Sumo sends your welcome email, recreate that email in your email tool first. And if you installed the old WordPress plugin, deactivate and delete it as well as removing any script pasted by hand.

Frequently asked questions

According to bdow.com, Showit acquired Sumo in 2024 and rebuilt it as BDOW!. On 13 October 2026, sumo.com opens a page for a different product and has no pricing or sign-up for the list builder. Tafsee Popup's Free plan is $0 with 1 site, 3 live campaigns and 500 leads a month, every template and game, and a small Tafsee badge. BDOW!'s menu mentions a free forever plan, but its pricing page lists only the paid Pro plan with a card-required trial, so confirm with them what is free.

No. Tafsee Popup collects leads and delivers them to Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Google Sheets, Zapier or a CRM. It does not send welcome emails or broadcasts. If you use Sumo for both jobs, you need an email tool alongside Tafsee Popup.

Not a hands-on one. It is a comparison written by the Tafsee team from bdow.com (its homepage, pricing, features and plugin pages), its help centre and its WordPress.org listing, read on 13 October 2026. We describe what Sumo publishes about itself and where it is the stronger choice. For an independent Sumo review, read recent user reviews and try the product on your own site.

No, there is no importer. You rebuild your few best campaigns from a template, reconnect your email tool or CRM, export your contacts from Sumo, and then remove the old script, plugin or app.
